What is the difference between a chipmunk and a squirrel?
Chipmunks are small mammals with singled-out stripes, while the tree squirrel is larger and doesn't have stripes. The footing squirrel has trunk stripes like chipmunks, but no head stripes. A tree squirrel is larger, has a longer tail and no stripes.
They all have short fur and modest rounded ears.
Size
Chipmunks range from half dozen to 12 inches (16 - 30 cm) in length.
Ground squirrels range from viii to 12 inches (25 - 30 cm) in length.
Tree squirrels are 12 to twenty inches (38 - 52 cm) in length, including the tail.
What do they swallow?
Tree squirrels feed mostly on plant material, including seeds, nuts, acorns, tree buds, berries, leaves, and twigs. Chipmunks take a similar nutrition, merely smaller plants are consumed.

Vocalizations
